NEWS RELEASE

SAULT STE. MARIE REGION CONSERVATION AUTHORITY

City jewel continues to shine

Sault Ste. Marie - The Sault Ste. Marie Region Conservation Authority is proud to be able to continue to provide the valuable land base here in the Hiawatha Highlands Conservation Area and throughout the city for various seasonal recreational activities.

While watershed management continues to be a provincial priority, locally we are committed to providing diverse recreational opportunities.

Our role has changed from a partner in providing cross-country skiing to that of a land owner.

We are happy to be able to contribute in that role as land owner to cross country skiing for the Sault Ste. Marie area.

The conservation authority board decision resulting in the Sault Finnish Nordic Ski Club being the selected proponent is the next step in the continuation of cross country skiing in the Hiawatha Highlands Conservation Area.

We thank Heyden Adventure Base Camp for submitting a very thought-provoking proposal that could provide invaluable opportunities for winter recreation.

We hope that residents and tourists continue to enjoy their time in all of our conservation areas.
