We would like to take the opportunity to express our appreciation to all businesses and sponsors that supported the first Snow Champs Chomp dinner and auction, held at Algoma's Watertower Inn Feb. 5.
Jim Hilsinger generously provided the dinners and Grand Hall for this great event.
We would like to show our gratitude and appreciation to all guests who attended and shared this exciting event.
All proceeds will be going to this city's young winter athletes competing in the alpine, nordic and boarder-cross divisions this winter season.
Sault Ste Marie is a winter city and it is vital to show positive support for young athletes who are eager to compete here in Northern Ontario, on a provincial, national or global base.
We will work on keeping the winter spirit going into the 2007/2008 season by planning the second annual event before long.
We are fortunate to have the best skiing/snowboarding terrain in Northern Ontario and possibly in the entire province with our mountain in Searchmont.
Many teams visiting from Canada and the United States have praised Searchmont for hosting excellent events this season so far.
Nordic ski teams have participated in races here in Algoma and enjoyed superb winter conditions during their visits. We are truly blessed.
Word gets out to winter sport enthusiasts to come to Algoma for the snow, when there is no good snow anywhere else.
Watch for the upcoming events at Searchmont, Heyden, Buttermilk and Hiawatha this season, and play and compete in the snow with us.
