Maple Syrup Stampede February 9, 2008 The Maple Syrup Stampede took place in Jocelyn Township, St. Joseph Island on Saturday, February 9. Eighty-two skiers participated in the classic and freestyle events. Winner of the men's 20km freestyle race was Adam Kates, with a time of 1:01:39. Daniela Gebhart was first in the women's 20km event with a time of 1:12:32.
Participants ready for the start of the 7km classic event There was a three way tie in the women's 7km classic race. Hillary Mallinger, Erin Mallinger and Catherine Mallinger crossed the finish line with a time of 28:22. Frances Mallinger was first in the girl's 7km classic race with a time of 29:10. Adam Hopfgartner was first in the men's 7km classic race with a time of 25:59. Karl Zimmerman was first in the boy's 7km classic event with a time of 32:59.
