Jackrabbit News - March '98

We are not done yet; good Ski Club times are still to come.

We have had a great season - lots of new participants, no canceled lessons due to inclement weather (a first in a long time), some great events. Although lessons are finished, we are not done yet. There are still a few events coming up that we would love to see you at - on and off the trails!

March 7, 1998
Last lesson. Hot dog social after lessons at the Kinsmen Center. Pick up your certificate and badges.

March 14, 1998
Fun Day. Come out and ski the Look-out Trail or Red Pine Trail with your family, coach, or new skiing buddies. There will be hot dog roasting and hot chocolate at each of the two system's look-out decked areas. Bunnies are going to have a private get-together nearer to the Kin Center. Food and drink is provided by the Club at each site -- parents are asked to bring goodies. If you get them to us before 9:30 am, we can have them sent out by snowmachine and save people carrying them out via backpack. It is always a great time with a wonderful smorgasborg of treats!!!

March 15, 1998
Cut off date for kilometer count for distance awards ( you can keep tallying your kilometers all the way up to the banquet date for distance badges). Tally up your family total, individual totals (both children and adults-- awards for all ages!), and number of times out skiing over the season. Distance awards are being coordinated by Dave Thomlinson (942-4167). You can submit your distances directly to Dave or to the Jackrabbit Coordinators. Note: you do not need an official form for tallying your logged kilometers -- a record with name, dates, and distances will suffice.

March 31, 1998
Deadline for submitting your kilometers at the STAR office. For every 25km skied, you are eligible for a ballet on a pair of really awesome K2 in-line skates (generously provided by the Old Ski House). The draw will be held on April 18th at the SFSC Banquet.

April 18. 1998
Soo Finnish Ski Club Awards Banquet. This is where you can share a meal with all of the members of the club; Bunnyrabbits, Jackrabbits, Challenge, Race Team, parents, volunteers, etc., swap ski stories, pick up time trial medals, trophies, & distance badges.

Tickets and information is available through Debbie Thomlinson (942-4167).
Location: Minelli's, 546 Great Northern Road
Doors open at 5:00 pm, supper at 5:30 pm

April 18, 1998
