Trisha Westman and Lawrence Foster earned the Coureur des Bois Gold Medal by completing all sections while carrying a 5 Kg pack and camping outside and previously earned a Coureur des Bois Silver Medal. This was Westman's third Gold Medal.
Mario Festival earned a Coureur des Bois Bronze Medal by completing all 10 sections. Kathy Brisco earned a Johannsen Bronze Medal by completing 5 sections.
The event started at 6:00 AM on both days. On the first day, the temperature at the start was around -1 C with some freezing rain. The temperature dropped to around -5 C by the afternoon with mostly cloudy skies and some wind. The second day started with a temperaure of -19 and clear skies. The sun rose around 7:15 and it remained sunny all day. The temperature went up to -8 C by the afternoon with no wind.
Founded in 1967 by former Canadian National Ski team member, Don MacLeod, the first "marathon ski tour" was designed to be the longest in the world, promoting a spirit of fitness, friendship and fun. The annual two-day event features ten sections that span 160 kilometers of tranquility and beauty through the Québec countryside: from Lachute to Buckingham with an overnight stop in Montebello.
